Half-Day Workshop

Basic crisis intervention skill is a necessity for ourselves and those in need.

Medical crisis, despair from a divorce or any unexpected events that create extreme fear, anxiety, shock, confusion, disorientation, withdrawal, sleep disturbance and or physical health issues would demand our attention least it spirals to irreversible damage to our well-being.

In the extreme case, despair could drive people into depression or suicidal thoughts.

How do we identify a person who is in crisis? What are the ways we could calm a person in crisis?

Basic crisis intervention management applied correctly can help to restore peace and stability for a person in crisis, to assist the person back to a state of mental or emotional stability and to seek professional help rationally, when necessary.

Course Objectives

Participants will learn through discussions, reflection and group activities to:

To restore the individual to a state of stability and mobility.

To assess person in crisis and apply crisis intervention skills appropriately at different levels of the crisis.

To provide emotional first aid, focused on the immediate problem event or situation and to manage it at that moment and not resolution.

Who can benefit

Anyone who has experienced some form of crisis, or hope to help someone in crisis.

Working adults, adolescents facing peer pressure, parents, caregivers. professionals who work with children,
social workers, teachers, and people in ministry; working with vulnerable individuals and/or groups.

Suitable for participants to share and learn for enriching experience through therapy, group participation and activities.







About the Trainer

Jo Oh, Master of Social Science (Counselling), a counsellor, psychotherapist , course designer (DACE) , ACTA (WDA) trainer and facilitator with experience in helping individuals and families overcome emotional challenges and difficult life circumstances.
Ms Oh conducts courses and workshops on psycho-social and emotional well-being for individuals and organizations’ staff, and also counselling caregivers in managing their loved ones. She volunteered as a counsellor at Breast Cancer Foundation.

3. Registrations received after seats are filled will be returned with regrets.

4. Registration will be taken as confirmed upon receipt of payment.

5. No refund of fees for participant cancellations including medical leave but substitutions
are allowed with written request to organizer at least two working days before the
course commences.

6. Please note that registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Payment must be
received upon registration.

7. Payment of fees is not a guarantee for the event to be staged as planned. Should the event
be cancelled for any reason, a full refund will be made to all registered participants and no
